Introduction to Two-Year-Old Curriculum

The two-year-old program is an introduction to school, group learning and play. The two-year-old program recognizes the “me” centered universe of the young two and the “we” centered social universe of the young three. The two-year-old child will learn to sit and listen to an activity for 5 minutes. The child will follow simple rules and develop many language and social skills.

Children’s physical skills are developing rapidly as well as knowledge of the world around them. They begin to enjoy being a part of a group. They start to recognize that others can take care of their needs outside of their immediate family.

The two-year-old learns through example and play. Singing, movement and trying to do it by themselves are very important to the child. Potty training also occurs in most children between the age of two and three.

Our curriculum recognizes all of the above development in the child. The curriculum develops after Christmas from a less structured to a more structured learning program. School should be enjoyable and secure for the two-year-old. A thematic approach to learning by months is used in our two-year-old curriculum.
