The purpose of the elementary curriculum at Cross & Crown School is to outline the basic knowledge most students will learn at a particular grade level. The school’s purpose is to educate the whole child in a Christian environment. The student learns spiritually, morally, academically, socially, emotionally and physically. Skills are presented in a developmentally appropriate manner. Children are challenged to meet their full potential in all area of their education.

The classroom teacher, enrichment teachers, educational environment and school expectations are all geared to produce positive learning in the student. Respect and responsibility are emphasized in every classroom. Developing knowledge of God and His presence in our life is expressed in all aspects of the curriculum. Teachers model the Christian life to the students in their everyday classroom life. Positive characteristics are emphasized in stories, historical figures, current events, lessons and faith development.

The curriculum allows students to move at an advanced or remedial level. Student progress is assessed often and mastery of one skill is expected before a new skill is taught. Reinforcement and the practical use of the new skills are demonstrated to the student in everyday classroom use.

The parents are encouraged to participate in reinforcing the curriculum through daily homework assignments, weekly progress folders and parent teacher conferences to discuss the student’s progress. The parents and teacher work as a team to educate the whole child. Learning and behavioral concerns are solved together
